Make your own paper lantern to hang around your home in honor of the New Year Materials & ToolsMulti-colored construction paper (red is a traditional color in China)Scissors Tape or glue stick Pencil Ruler Stapler |

DirectionsCut off a one-inch strip from the shorter end of the paper; save this strip to form your handle.For the remaining page in half lengthwise and draw a line one inch from the end of the long side to the opposite folded edge. This line tells you where you will stop cutting. Mark one-inch lines starting from the folded edge to the "stop cutting" line. Cut along those market lines. Unfold the paper and recrease it in the opposite direction to hide the pencil marks. Match up the long edges to form a cylindrical shape. Tape or glue the edges together. Staple the strip cut off initially to form a handle on the top. Hang and enjoy the lantern.
