This all-natural bird feeder is a great, easy project to enjoy with little ones

Materials & Tools

Large, open pine cone
Vegetable shortening or lard
Oats or corn meal
Bird seed
String

Directions

1. Tie a few feet of string around the pine cone.

2. Combine 1/2 cup vegetable shortening with � cup cornmeal or uncooked oats. Use a butter knife to "spread" the mixture onto the cone.

3. Roll the sticky cone in birdseed.

4. Suspend the cones from an outside tree branch.
