DirectionsHave an adult cut a slit in the top of the plastic lid, large enough for quarters to fit through. Next cut a piece of paper that will fit around the canister. Decorate it with markers, crayons, stickers, etc. Using double-sided tape, attach the paper to the canister. Place the lid on top and start saving your pennies for tzedakah.Author CommentsTzedakah, or charity, is collected and given by Jewish people throughout the year. If your family has not yet started this ages-old tradition, there is no better time to start saving tzedakah coins than on the New Year. A tzedakah box is a container in which you save loose change that you intend to donate to charitable causes. Involve your children in making this tzedakah box and they will surely enjoy taking on this new mitzvah (Jewish commandment). |
