Your kids will get a kick out of the homemade noise maker - it's perfect for your Fourth of July parade!

Materials & Tools

Toilet paper roll
12 small bells (available at craft stores)
Piece of thin cardboard
Red, white or blue construction paper
Red, white and blue ribbon
Scissors
Tape
Stickers, markers or other decorative embellishments

Directions

Cut out two 1 1/2 -inch circles from the cardboard. Fill the roll with the small bells, then seal the roll shut by taping the ends of the tube with the cardboard circles.

Next, cut a 6 by 20-inch rectangle from a clear report folder or clear acetate (sold at art supply stores) and fringe the 6-inch edges by making a series of 8-inch-long cuts (a parent's job). Attach sticker stars to the fringe.

Cut out foot-long sections of ribbon and curl them using the side of the scissors. Attach the ribbons along both ends of the roll.

Cut out a piece of construction paper sized to fit over the roll and tape or glue it into place. Decorate the paper with stickers or markers.
